Lilly is with me almost 24/7 and at times this can be an issue if I need to stop somewhere or make a delivery. Not every business is like ours and has adopted a pet friendly policy. I wanted to be prepared so I looked into what nationally known companies allow you to bring your “Fido” with you. While these businesses have taken on a new role by allowing us to bring our beloved 4-legged friend, it’s also important to make sure we’re not abusing this opportunity. First and foremost, do not assume that everyone loves dogs, be respectful and keep your dog buy your side at all times. If your dog is not friendly, does not follow simple basic commands, is fearful of being petted, does not walk on a leash properly, then out of respect for others, leave your dog at home!
Here’s a list of some of the most pet friendly businesses nationally:
This one is pretty obvious! Most, if not all, Pet Stores will welcome your leashed dog! They usually have treats stashed at the register, too!
Lilly loves going here, especially since most of the employees have bones in their vests! Their wide isles make it easy to get around with a cart and your pup.
I haven’t had the guts to take her here for fear of the: Deadly tail!
They have a notable history of allowing dogs and supporting the SPCA, but most of their stores are in a Mall and their policies about dogs could be different.
Bass Pro Shops
Encourages their customers to bring their pups, it’s also a great way to socialize your four legged friend!
Barnes and Noble
While BN welcomes your pup, beware because their coffee shop, Starbuck’s won’t!
Pet Friendly, but beware, if your pup breaks it, you just bought it!
The Apple Store
When the store is crowded they may ask you to pick your pet up – don’t think I’ll be bringing my sweet 145lb girl.
Just like their competitor, wide aisles and most of their employee’s carry treats in their aprons! It is the Managers choice, so we recommend you call ahead in your area!
TJ Max & Marshalls
Very dog friendly!
Posh and Fashionable! Only well behaved, leashed or purse carried pups welcome. Keep in mind that most Nordy’s are in a Mall and their policies could be different.
Hopefully you will have a wonderful experience with your dog as you shop to your hearts content, but as a pet owner it’s our responsibility to be aware at all times of the surroundings we bring our dog into. If you notice your pup has their head down, ear’s back, tail between their legs, trying to hide behind you, or even a wagging tail, be cognizant of what your pup might be feeling. If they do not feel safe and comfortable, remove them from the situation immediately.
